Weekly Snaps
18 April 2025
Photography has always played an important role on Britannia. While she was in service, there was always a 'Yottie' appointed, nicknamed 'Snaps', to take photographs of life aboard the Royal Yacht.
In keeping with this tradition, we now have our own Photographer in Residence, Ruth McQuiggan, who has been capturing our very own Weekly 'Snaps' - a collection of snapshots of life around the ship today.

There are many interesting places aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia to take photos. A visitor poses by the flag locker, where the flags are stored, each in their own individual compartment.

Visitors are treated to fantastic views over the Port of Leith and beyond from the Bridge, the first stop on the tour.

Billy, Facilities Officer, using a blowtorch to remove oxidisation from a statue of the longest serving Royal Yachtsman, Ellis 'Norrie' Norrell MVO RVM on the quayside.

A busy day in the Royal Deck Tearoom! Visitors enjoy mouthwatering soups, sandwiches, cakes and scones, all made in our onboard Galley.

While aboard, try our Galley's daily soup special. This week a delicious cream of cauliflower soup featured on the menu. Adding a bowl of smoked paprika potato wedges is always a great idea!

Straight from the oven, fruit scones waiting to be devoured with strawberry preserve and clotted cream.

This week we bid farewell to Linda, Senior Sales Assistant, as she retired after 11 years working aboard Britannia.
